OK, how much is it gonna cost?
sonic-one has a fairly flexible pricing structure depending on the amount of time you require. However it is based on £300 per day, negotiable after 5 days.
This includes a CD copy, or two, of the completed recording.
The Master DVD is extra to take away but a copy will be kept and will always be available for re-mixing.
Great, when can I book in?

For details on availability, get in touch by phone, fax or email and we'll check the diary and book you in, hopefully on the dates you require.
To secure the studio on specific dates a deposit will be required at 20% of the total time booked, during this time no other artists will be able to book those dates, they will be allocated only to you.
Provisional bookings are also acceptable (no deposit) however, other artists requiring that time with a definite booking will take precedence. You'll have first option of securing the time with a deposit, if no deposit is forthcoming the time will go to the other artists.

If this is your first time in a recording studio there are a few things you can do to prepare for your session to save you time and money. Here is a small check list to help your time at sonic-one run smoothly and productively.

  • Rehearse
Being prepared and knowing your parts sounds basic but the more time you waste trying to get it right, the more your money flies out the window.
  • Be realistic
No matter how well rehearsed you may be, you will not record a ten track album in one or two days. As a rule of thumb allow yourself about two days to lay down a maximum of three tracks. This allows for setting up, getting a 'sound', recording, overdubbing, mixing etc.
  • Guitarists/Bassists
Bring along a new set of strings if you want a clean cutting tone, only use older strings if you require a 'woolly' effect. Also batteries for your foot pedals, there are numerous guitar effects boxes at the sonic-one studio but if you want to capture 'your sound', bring your own pedals (it also saves time).
  • Drummers
It is advisable that you replace (at least) your snare skin with a new one prior to recording.
  • Re-mixing
When we are ready to listen to the completed take before it's finalized, make sure you concentrate and listen hard. Once these mixes are final it will cost you extra to re-mix and sometimes you might have to wait a few weeks to do it!
  • Rock stars
PLEASE leave your egos at home, the studio is a place of work, not a building for ligging about looking cool in dark glasses (Except me!!).
  • Food
We will supply tea and coffee if you make it! If you're lucky maybe a chocolate Hob-nob but that's it! Feel free to bring a packed lunch for break time
